The Finger Picking playing style is characterized by a fluid playing in which the thumb alternately or walking plays the bass part and the other fingers (at least 2, but 4 is also allowed) play the melody line. So 2 parts on 1 guitar. Once you have mastered this, you can turn any song into a standalone acoustic song where the presentation of the song increases enormously in creativity and playing pleasure. Here you will find lessons to learn this technique.

The lesson material is free and for both beginning and advanced guitarists. The exercises are in TAB-lature and are also supplied as a TUX file. For this you need to download the TUX GUITAR program, which will easily read the TUX file data so that you can see how things are played. Good luck and ideas are always welcome.

PRACTICE 1

Here you will find the first example of playing a simple Finger Picking playing style and is the basis for every subsequent exercise. In the downloadable files you will find the TUX and MIDI files. This is the bass that alternates between G and C on the 6th and 5th strings. The melody line is very simple and is played over the other strings with 2 or 3 fingers. If you have loaded the .tg file and you press PLAY you will see exactly how the finger setting should be.
